Events for the Evaluation in the European Social Fund

22/6/2018

From 13 to 15 June 2018, 3 important events in the field of evaluation in the European Social Fund (ESF) were organized in Athens by the Greek ESF Coordination and Monitoring Agency in cooperation with the European Commission:

  • On Wednesday 13-06-2018 the Spring Meeting of the Evaluation Partnership of the European Commission-DG of Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion took place in Novotel Hotel. Evaluation and monitoring issues as well as the provisions by the DG for the next Programming Period were discussed in the meeting.
On the occasion of the Partnership Meeting taking place in Greece, in the same evening the Partnership members were treated to a guided tour in the ancient sites of Muses Hill, Nymphs Hill and Fillopappos Hill.

  • On Thursday 14-06-2018  the meeting of the Community of Practice for Counterfactual Impact Evaluations (CoP CIE) took place in Titania Hotel. The Cop CIE functions under the auspice of the Centre for Research on Impact Evaluation-CRIE, which is funded by the European Commission. The CoP CIE goal, which is composed by NSRF managing and coordination authorities from all Member States, is to promote the cooperation between the DG for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, the CRIE and the Managing Authorities for the exchange of views and expertise in the field of impact evaluation of the actions funded by the European Social Fund.
At the Athens meeting, a workshop focused on policy design took place, where the participants had the opportunity, through exercises and examples, to exchange views and broaden their knowledge on the subject.

  • On Friday 15-06-2018  a Seminar on Counterfactual Impact Evaluation in ESF actions was organized in Titania Hotel. The Seminar, which was conducted by highly trained CRIE executives, was addressed to the Greek NSRF Managing Authorities and Executive Agencies employees with the relative responsibility. It was the first time that the counterfactual method was presented and methodically developed in Greece. It also included the first attempt to perform such an evaluation, currently underway with the cooperation of CRIE, Greek ESF Coordination and Monitoring Agency and the MA of Competitiveness OP.
