1. Opening event for the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012
The event was held at the European Parliament Information Office in Greece, on Friday March 2nd 2012, with the participation of organizations involved in active ageing in Greece.

2. Projection of films and photo exhibition at the Greek Film Archive premises
The event took place on Wednesday April  4th 2012. The program comprised the projection of Hellenic films with storylines about active ageing and intergenerational solidarity. As a parallel event, an exhibition of photographs on the aforementioned topics taken by the students of the University of Athens - Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts, was launched at the foyer of the premises (The Greek Film Archive) during the day of the projection.

3.  Actions at schools
- In cooperation with the Ministry of Education (Special Secretariat for Primary and Secondary Education) and in accordance to instructions provided by the European Commission - actions in schools were designed, in the form of a mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences between students and older people. .
Specifically, circulars for the years 2012 and 2013 were sent addressing kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools, where, according to the attached instructions asked schools to organize events on intergenerational solidarity (eg : games, discussions between students and older people, artistic activities such as painting, music, theater, etc.).
The schools could collect material from their events and send them to the European Commission to participate in a pan-European competition for the best project from each country.
Our country won the 3rd place in the competition of 2012 (Music school of Arta) and 1st place in the competition of 2013 (7th Kindergarten of Ierapetra) for students under 15 years old.

- As part of the European Day of Solidarity between Generations and in collaboration with the European Commission’s Representation in Greece, an athletic event was held on 17 May 2012 at the “Educational Institute Chrysostomos Smirnis” in which the basketball coach of the 1987 National team of Greece Kostas Politis, participated.  The event aimed at the mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences between students and coach, including discussion of the national coach with the students as well as screening of the last minutes of the unforgettable final of 1987 The event was concluded with a basketball game between students supervised by coach Politis.

4.   Workshops in Greece to celebrate the European Seniorforce Day
Greece celebrated a Seniorforce Day on October 24th in Athens. The event was organised by the ESF Actions Coordination and Monitoring Authority, in cooperation with the University of Athens Department of Communication and Mass Media, the NGO 50+, the Youth NGO AEGEE-Athina (European Students Forum) and with the support of the Representation of the European Commission in Greece and the European Parliament Information Office.  During the event teenagers, university students and older people cooperated in the framework of interactive creative workshops and discussions with the aim to stress the importance of youth volunteer work and for dialogue and intergenerational solidarity.

5. Closing event for the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012
The event took place at Benaki Museum on Friday December 7th 2012 with the participation of organizations involved in active ageing in Greece and included a review of the events of the “Year” as well as the awards of the best Greek submissions for the competitions of the European Commission regarding active ageing.

6. Other actions
Throughout the year there was dissemination of information - aiming at sensitizing relevant actors and the wider public - on actions related to active ageing which were co-funded by ESF through the Operational Program “Human Resources Development”:

• Supporting actions promoting the age management at the Greek Commerce. The project aims at the implementation of pilot actions in the field of age management. Implementing agency: “National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce” (ESEE).
• Improving the quality and productivity of labour. The project aims at encouraging the labour force of older people. Implementing agency: “Economic and Social Council of Greece” (OKE).
• Program for subsidizing the municipalities’ enterprises in order to hire 5.000 unemployed persons between the age of 55-64. Implementing agency:  Manpower Employment Organization (OAED).
