Greece exceeds PA absorption target in 2016

The goal that was set for the year 2016 concerning the absorption of PA funds, has been exceeded, as announced by the Ministry of Economy and Development.  

Specifically, according to the final figures notified to the European Commission on 31/12/2016, the  payment requests that Greece declared amount to 1.612.537.278,15 € of Community contribution,  corresponding to 11.35% absorption  and exceeding by 60% the target set for 1 billion (that is 7% absorption).

It is worth noting that the target of 7% has been exceeded for all European funds that finance the PA in Greece, with the European Social Fund’s absorption rate being nearly double the target.

The amount of payment requests corresponding to a)Sectoral Programmes is 1.198.64.541,93 € and b) Regional Programmes is 413.890.736,22 €.

Alexis Haritsis, Deputy Minister of Economy and Development said: "This significant success is the result of rational and timely planning, hard work and methodical, good cooperation with all stakeholders. Congratulations to the Ministry of Economy and Development services, to the members of all ministries to elected and other officials of the government and the beneficiaries themselves.

The over-coverage of the absorption target, is not simply a managerial success. Thanks to the qualitative priorities set in all programmes, there will be a substantial impact in boosting employment, supporting SMEs and young researchers, the quality of life of local communities ".
